Robert Zelko

WEST CLARKSVILLE, N.Y. - Robert Joseph Zelko, a longtime resident of West Clarksville, entered into eternal life Aug. 1, 2024, to be with his loving wife.
Born in Glassmere, Pa., on July 31, 1930, he was the son of the late Peter and Francis Wesoloski Zelko. On Oct. 10, 1964, in Olean, he married the love of his life, Annette Zelko.
Mr. Zelko graduated from Portville Central School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army in the United States, as well as in Germany. Bob grew up around dairy farming. He had been employed by Ed Hartnick, grinding feed for area farmers. He also worked at Valley Farms Dairy in Olean before going to work at Friendship Dairies Inc., from which he retired in 1992. He was also a life member of the West Clarksville Fire Department.
He is survived by three sons, Brian (Helen) Zelko of West Clarksville, Paul (Melanie) Zelko of Nashville, Tenn., and Ted (Kristina) Zelko of Bradford, Pa.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, Annette, he was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and a grandson.
Family will receive friends at Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (Aug. 9, 2024) and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 10, 2024) with a funeral service to follow with the Rev. David Cook, pastor of Obi community Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion. Robert's ashes will be combined with Annette's and then spread at a location near and dear to both of them at a later date.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Obi Community Church or the Obi Community Church Men's Group, of which Robert was a member, at 1948 Route 305, Cuba; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
