Ruth Danielson Obituary

Ruth Eleanor Danielson, 75, of 149 Constitution Ave., passed away Saturday (Aug. 17, 2013) at The Pavilion at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born March 30, 1938, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Orville Sloan and Ruth Isabelle Cameron Wherry. On June 9, 1962, in the First Presbyterian Church in Penn Hills, she married Ronald LaVelle Danielson, who passed away Aug. 31, 2003.
She was a 1956 graduate of Penn Hills High School. She received her bachelor of science degree from Clarion University in 1960 and did graduate work at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania State University.
Mrs. Danielson began her teaching career in Penn Hills in 1962. She then moved to Bradford and began teaching with the Bradford Area School District in 1963. She taught at Custer City School, Lincoln School and George G. Blaisdell Elementary School, from where she retired in 1993.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and elder.
Mrs. Danielson was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, Bradford Christian Connection and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Danielson Jr. of Bradford and Timothy (Kathy) Danielson of Portland, Ind.; two grandchildren, Ceegan and Tanner Danielson; and two stepgrandchildren, Gary and Aaron Dennis; two brothers, Dwight (Dora) Wherry of Pittsburgh and Richard (Andy) Wherry of French Lick, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Friends will be invited to attend a memorial service at a later date to be announced. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 54 East Corydon St., Bradford; CARE for Children, P.O. Box 616, Bradford; or McKean County SPCA, P.O. Box 113, Bradford.
