Freda Mann Obituary
Freda was predeceased by her husband Ivan and daughters Cynthia and Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughter Jennifer and grandchildren Nason, Lauren, David and Lisa.
Freda was born and raised as the sixth of ten children on a farm in Pipestone, Manitoba. She maintained close relations with her family throughout her life and never missed a yearly trip back to Canada to visit. During WWII, Freda met and married her husband Sgt. Ivan Mann, then of the Royal Canadian Air Force. They moved to his hometown of Campbellton, New Brunswick but soon moved to Brattleboro where Ivan's aunt and uncle were living. They soon became U.S. citizens. Freda worked with the Telephone Company until she retired, then worked as a receptionist at the Brattleboro Retreat until well into her 80's.
Never idle, Freda spent her later years baking, traveling, gardening and watching baseball. Freda was a strong and independent woman who lived a full life, instilling a healthy work ethic and strong values in her family. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her and will forever remain in our hearts.
A graveside celebration of life (delayed because of the pandemic) will be held at Morningside Cemetery in Brattleboro, Vermont on June 5, 2021 at 12 pm.

I first got to know my Aunt Freda when I was a child and I came down for visits from Canada when my father (her brother) worked for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Ottawa. Later, as an adult, I was able to come to Brattleboro many times and visit Freda and other members of her family. I also saw her many times on her extended trips to Canada. Most recently, I was able to take six road trips with my son to Vermont and Maine to visit Freda and Jennifer and Joey. Aside from the fact that every visit with Aunt Freda was a pleasure, my many visits to see her and other members of our family added a richness to my life that I will always remember. I, along with all members of our family, will miss her.

I was best friends with Cindy, growing up in Brattleboro, Vt. Mrs. Mann was a wonderful woman and could laugh at almost anything. Rest in peace, you are with Cindy and Liz now and Ivan too!
