James Mockler Obituary

James T. Mockler

1936-2009 VERNON James T. Mockler, 73 of Hickory Hollow Rd., Vernon, died Thursday evening, December 10, 2009 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Brattleboro, Vt.

He was born in Bridgeport, Conn. on July 19, 1936 the son of Howard and Alice McLoughlin Mockler. He grew up in Norwalk, Conn. and attended Washington School, St. Joseph School, Norwalk High School and Cornwells Prep School in Pa. he entered the U.S.Army and served with the 77th Eng. Bn. USAREUR, spending 19 months in Germany. he was married April 26, 1958 to the former Shirley M. Bartram. He worked for 16 years in the plumbing and heating business in Conn., and then moved to Vernon where he worked for 23 years as Plant Engineer at Brattleboro Union High School. He served as a special police officer in Vernon for 10 years. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, hiking, gardening, bicycling, canoeing, and kayaking.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of 51 years, and one son, James B. Mockler of Northfield, Ma., and two daughters; Karen A. Mockler and Noreen M. Mockler both of Vernon, One brother; Patrick Mockler of Vernon, and a sister Helen Cotta of Bethel, Conn. Four grandchildren; Alicia Mackin of Brookline, Mass., Tim Macklin of West Chesterfield, N.H., Craig Vinton of Vernon, and Kyle Vinton and his wife, Jessica, and great-grandchildren, Kaden and carter Vinton of Guilford, Vt. Several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother Howard Mockler, Jr.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services today will be private, with burial to follow in Tyler Cemetery, Vernon, Vt.

There are no calling hours.
