John Moore Obituary

BRATTLEBORO -- John Alvin Moore Jr., 57, of Western Avenue, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at his home.

Mr. Moore was born in Brattleboro on Aug. 22, 1949, the son of John A. and Barbara A. (Young) Moore.

He was raised and educated in Brattleboro by his mother and stepfather, Floyd Carruth, who he considered his father. Mr. Moore graduated from Brattleboro Union High School, later enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he served his country during the Vietnam War.

For the past three years, Mr. Moore was employed as a flagger for Green Mountain Traffic Control. Previously, he had worked for Mastaler Cleaning Service, at the Save Way Service Station on upper Canal Street and at Brattleboro Kiln Dry.

Mr. Moore was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing and time shared with his friends.

He is survived by an uncle, Burt Young of Marlboro, Mass., two aunts, Laura Maynard of Essex and Charlotte Young of Marlboro; many cousins that include Theresa Powling of Marlboro.

A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 14, at 1 p.m. at the West Brattleboro Baptist Church on Western Avenue with Pastor Steve McClelland officiating.

Burial will be in Locust Ridge Cemetery on Black Mountain Road. There are no calling hours at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Moore's name may be made to; Rescue Inc., P.O. Box 593, Brattleboro, VT. 05302, or to a charity of one's choice.

I would like to give my deepest sympathy to the moore family. John was a good friend of mine and is going to be missed. I have alot of good memories of the time I knew john. He was very dedicated to his family and his closest friends he had.I know he is good hands now.I'm not going to forget all the good times I had hanging out with John all the car races or the football games he and I went to.This is from a good friend Keith Thomas from Fort Myers Florida 33967.
