Jonathan Brophy Obituary

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Jonathan James Brophy, 44, died Dec. 28, 2003, at Providence Hospital. His death was due to a sudden heart arrhythmia.

Mr. Brophy was born July 31, 1959, in Northfield, Vt., to Carol and Roger Brophy.

He graduated from Bellows Falls Union High School in 1977. He was an accomplished athlete during high school. He worked in the printing and publishing industry since graduation. He co-owned Professional Colorgraphics Inc. in Anchorage from 1990-2000. His most recent employment was with Professional Colorgraphics Inc. as the operations manager. Mr. Brophy also invested in real estate. He was a resident of Alaska since 1986.

Mr. Brophy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed the Alaska wilderness whether he was fishing, hunting, boating or snow machining. At the time of his death, he was in the process of fulfilling a lifelong dream of building a cabin at Alexander Creek. His family and friends will fulfill his dream by finishing the cabin he started and making a memorial to him on the property.

Mr. Brophy was not rich monetarily, but more importantly, rich in loyalty, integrity, and old fashioned honesty. He was an exceptionally loving man. He cherished his family. He undoubtedly put God and family first. He always looked past peoples' faults and realized the good in everyone. The goodness that emanated from him will forever be like a beacon of light and hope that all people should follow. His positive attitude made him a winner in everything he pursued. He lived his life to the fullest and the void he leaves will never be filled. His presence here on Earth will be greatly missed but his memory will always live on.

He is survived by his wife, Karen A. Brophy of Anchorage; a son, Ryan of Anchorage; two daughters, Lindsey and Jessica of Anchorage; his father, Roger S. Brophy and stepmother, Bobbie Brophy of Palmer; his mother, Carol J. Riley and stepfather, Thomas Riley of Springfield, Vt.; two brothers, David A. Brophy of Bellingham, Wash., and Daniel Brophy of Chester, Vt.; a nephew and three nieces.
