Marjorie Torrey Obituary

LONDONDERRY -- Marjorie Olive Torrey, 75, of Londonderry died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

She was born on Dec. 20, 1928, at the family homestead in South Londonderry, the daughter of Raymond C. Beattie and Zoe Gates.

Survivors include her husband, Victor Torrey of Londonderry; her loving daughters, Linda L. Stevens of Bondville and Margie A. Rawson and her husband Rick of Londonderry; three stepsons, four grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters; five stepgrandchildren; three brothers, Roger Beattie of Brandon, Jerry Beattie of Grafton, and Gordon Beattie of Grosvenor-Dale, Conn.; four sisters, Min Smith of Randolph, Florence Smith of Jamaica, Maxine Beattie and Marion Desilets, both of Burlington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Kenneth C. Warner in 1974, a son-in-law, Jerry Stevens; seven brothers, Raymond Beattie, Warren Beattie, twins Walter and Wallace Beattie, Clifford Beattie, Wendell Beattie, and Robert Beattie.

She was employed for many years at the Vermont Country Store and the Country Store restaurant in Weston, Kemsley's General Store in Weston, Stratton and Bromley ski areas and Johnny Seesaw's in Peru.

She was once a member of the Londonderry Grange.

A graveside service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery in Londonderry at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9. Family and friends are invited to the home of Rick and Margie Rawson, Little Pond Road, Londonderry, immediately following the service.

Contributions may be made to the Londonderry Rescue Squad.u
