Raymond Houghton

Raymond 0. Houghton 1927-2011 WALPOLE, NH Raymond 0. Houghton, 84, of North Road, died November 25, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health. He was born April 7, 1927 in Bellows Falls, Vt., the son of Henry E. and Gladys (Ploof) Houghton. Raymond was a 1947 graduate of Chester High School, Chester, Vt. He worked in farming and for RN Johnson, Inc. until retirement. He was a member and Assistant Chief of the Walpole Fire Dept, Walpole, N.H. He was co-founder of the Walpole Volunteer Ambulance Corp. Raymond served in the United States Army. He was an avid woodworker. On October 25, 1953 in Brattleboro, Vt., he married Arlene C. (Gallup) Houghton who survives him. He is also survived by two sons, Kenneth R. and Lori Houghton, of Tavares, Fla., and Ross H. and Tommie Houghton of Charlestown, N.H.; two daughters, Louise A. and Winthrop Clark of Newfane, Vt., and Raylene H. and Steve Sperling of Goldsboro, N.C.; one sister, Dorothy Cook of Chester, Vt.; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Frank and Carl Houghton; one sister Ruth Stearns and a grandson, David Clark. FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be calling hours Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home, Bellows Falls, VT..
