Roger Howes Obituary

Roger S. Howes 1921-2011 WILMINGTON, VT Roger S. Howes, 90, a recent resident of Fairview Avenue in Wilmington, and Readsboro, Vt., passed away Wednesday December 7, 2011 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Roger was born in Ashfield, Mass., on August 22, 1921 the son of Arthur and Filixena (Dandeneau) Howes and attended local schools. Roger was a World War II United States Navy Veteran and upon being honorably discharged, he went to work for New England Power Company as an electrician in Readsboro for many years. Roger loved to golf and enjoyed hunting, fishing, following the Boston Red Sox, and in his earlier years he enjoyed bowling. He enjoyed his home and spending time with his family. Roger is survived by his children; Jason Howes and his wife Jackie of Jacksonville, Vermont, Barry and his partner Paula Houghton of Readsboro, Vt., and Barbara Bird and her husband Chick of Wilmington, four grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his wife the former Alice Beecher. At the request of the family there will be no formal funeral service. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Roger's memory may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home Activities Fund, c/o Covey & Allen Funeral Home P.O. Box 215 Wilmington, Vermont 05363.
