It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful and unexpected passing of Beverly Jane Verdi of Berlin on Thursday, October 19th. Beverly, the daughter of Alfred and Helen Kania, was

born in Middletown on September 4, 1946. A devoted wife, companion, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend, Beverly crossed over surrounded by her loved ones and began her journey to reunite with her greatly missed departed husband, Salvatore P. Verdi.

Throughout her life, Beverly radiated warmth and love, creating a haven of comfort and support for her family. Beverly has left behind a tapestry of cherished memories, including those of her special family meals and homemade delights. The smell of her sauce simmering on the stove and the anticipation of the chocolate cake baking in the oven filled her home with warmth and

comfort, and it was during these moments in the kitchen that she instilled in her family the importance of togetherness and the value of sharing meals. This love and care of our doting wife, mother, and grandmother defined our family life. As a fashion model business owner and public school teacher for over 25 years in New Britain,

she showcased not only the beauty of style but also the importance of education, shaping young minds with her wisdom, patience, and compassion. Her impact on her students was immeasurable, and her memory will forever live on in the knowledge she imparted.

In her passing, Beverly leaves behind her deeply devoted boyfriend, Bob Smilnak, whose love and companionship brought great comfort and joy to her life in more recent times. Beverly's legacy of love and compassion will forever be remembered by her children, Todd Verdi and his wife Heather of Plantsville, Danielle Salina and her husband Adam of Berlin, and Salvatore (Tory) Verdi and his wife Heather of Pittsburgh. Grandma will be missed by her nine grandchildren, Zach, Hunter, TJ, Olivia, Julia, Bella, Tyler, Avery, and Bradyn. She is also survived by her sisters,

Sharon Maron and husband Ted of Haddam, Pam Geato of Portland, and many dear friends.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 26th from 9 AM to 11 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Church, Kensington. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bev's memory to Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at The Hospital of

Central Connecticut, Department of Philanthropy, 100 Grand Street, New Britain, CT 06050.
