Brian Layton Obituary

Brian Douglas Layton, 68, of Winsted, passed away unexpectedly from heart failure on Feb. 5th.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gaye, his children: Jake, Tracy, Travis, Cory, and Brent, his brothers Larry and Chad, and sister Felicia; grandchildren Warren, Zachary, Logan, Noah, Clara and a grandbaby on the way; extended family and his many friends, colleagues, and decades-long clients.
When something was broken or in need of repair, Brian was likely the first person to come to mind. His tool bag and technical prowess helped make the lives of many a bit easier. He took pride in the fact that he helped train men to work in a career that allowed them to buy their first homes and grow families.
Brian respected straight-talk. He loved coffee and was rarely seen without a cup in hand. He enjoyed fishing, lakes, streams, the ocean, playing horseshoes, and the game solitaire. He thought retiring in the Carolinas might be nice and a part-time job fixing boats sounded like a pleasant way to spend his time.
He requested that no services be held after his passing. Simplicity was much more his style. In lieu of anything ceremonial, should you wish to pay respect – order a coffee and take a ride along a river or a coast. That is very much a Brian Layton thing to do.

Gaye, Jake, Brent and Family. I just read of Brian's passing. It has been way to many years since we have seen each other but I still have very fond memories of our times together. After all, Michael broke his elbow stepping off your dock and we used frozen peas to take down the swelling. Brian was such a sweet gentle soul who made everyone feel welcome. We are so sorry for your loss and for that empty feeling in your heart but I know it is full of wonderful memories.
