Domenica Spinelli Obituary

Domenica (Costantiello) "Donna" Spinelli, 87, of Bristol, beloved wife of James Spinelli passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021, at Bristol Hospital. She was born on Oct. 8, 1933, in Sammichele di Bari, Italy. She was one of eight children born to Dorotea Spinelli and Lorenzo Costantiello. She bravely crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the SS Andrea Doria in 1954 to find opportunity in the United States. She met her husband of 62 years, James Spinelli, in Columbus, Ohio, and they made their way back to Bristol where they called home. She was a dedicated employee of 28 years at General Electric Co. in Plainville. A parishioner of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Forestville, she and her husband James attended daily mass and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Donna had a generous heart and was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook big meals and bake wonderful cakes and brownies for her family and friends to enjoy. Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, leaving behind her husband of 62 years James Spinelli, her three sons: Michael(Sharon) Spinelli, John (Linda) Spinelli, and David Spinelli; grandchildren: Michelle (Caleb) Seltzer, Nicholas Spinelli, Shaina Spinelli (Craig Hitchcock), Christopher Spinelli, and Brendin Spinelli (Britney Wright); great-grandchildren: Harlee Sage Hitchcock and Marilyn Sage Hitchcock; her sister: Angela Cirielli, of Bristol; brothers: Antonio Costantiello of Bristol, Michele Costantiello of Columbus, Ohio, and Giovanni Costantiello of Longs, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. A walk-through visitation will take place at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Monday between 5 and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Bristol, CT 06010.
