John H. Peterson, 85, of Bristol, beloved husband of Diana (Duclos) Peterson, died on Friday (April 11, 2025) in the comfort of his own home. John was born on February 20, 1940, in Bristol and was the youngest of twelve children of the late Eric and Louise (Turner) Peterson. A lifelong Bristol resident, he graduated from Bristol Eastern High School Class of 1960. After high school, he served in the Army National Guard. John was self-employed as a painting contractor for 40 years before his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post 2, Bristol Elks Lodge #1010, Jacklin Rod & Gun Club, and the Bristol Auto Club where he was proud to show off his 1934 Silver

Buick. In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, John is survived by two sisters: Evelyn Mahannah of Thousand Oaks, CA and Edith Phelps of Cincinnati, OH; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Michelle and Michael Grillo, Roxanne Massarelli, Sandra and Ron Piasecki, Gene Duclos, and Wayne and Mary Jo Duclos; many nieces and nephews; and good friends: Bob McHugh, Mike Mastrobattisto, Al Stone, and Demi Godin. He was predeceased by nine siblings: Bobby Peterson, Arthur Peterson, Raymond Peterson, Mae McCabe, Norma Golnik, Dorothy Burton, Marion Mullins, Marie Fortin, and Ruth Michaels. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in the summer.
