Madeline Zoni Obituary

Madeline Zoni, of Plantsville section of Southington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her love ones on Dec. 9, 2022. She was the wife of the late Joseph Zoni. She was born on Sept. 29, 1924 in Bristol, the youngest child of Rocco Casadonte and Maria Grazia (DeFelipo) Casadonte. She was predeceased by her sisters Francesca and her husband Rocco Armento, Rose and her husband Louis Polzella, and her brother Anthony Casadonte and his wife, Jean (Nelson) Casadonte.
Shortly after her marriage, she and her husband moved to Plantsville, where she spent the remainder of her life. Madeline was the consummate mother, grandmother and volunteer. She spent many happy years as a paraprofessional at Kelley School in Southington, where she helped hundreds of children learn to read and write. When her sons attended Milldale School, she worked with the PTA, Cub Scouts, and the annual school fair. She was a founding member of the Southington Band Backers Association.
As a member of the Bradley Hospital Auxiliary, she helped with the food bank, the gift shop, and the thrift shop. As a longtime member of the Southington Friends of the Library, she spent many hours volunteering at their bookstore, helping young people select interesting books and encouraging them to be lifelong readers. Madeline received a coveted Saint Joseph's Medal from the Archdiocese of Hartford for her service to the Catholic Church.
She was devoted member of St. Aloysius Church where she helped at Bingo, Ladies Guild, annual Christmas Bazaar, fall picnic, and her favorite, child care during Mass. Madeline loved being with children. Her greatest joys were her times spent with her grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, her students, and her neighbors. If you were fortunate enough to have known her, you will certainly have loving memories of her. She will be sorely missed by all. Madeline is survived by her two sons: David Zoni (wife Susan Uznanski Zoni) and Daniel Zoni, both of Southington.
She leaves two grandsons and their wives, David Joseph Ambrose Zoni and Melissa (Spencer) Zoni and Steven Charles Anthony Zoni Esq. and Mariel (Notar-Francesco) Zoni, and four great-grandchildren, Luca, Olivia, Alanna, and Nicola. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, their children, and their childrens' children, from both the Zoni and Casadonte lineage, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Services will be private and be held at a later date for the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Madeline's name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals for Children. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N.
