Marilyn Resnick Obituary

ROCKY HILL

Marilyn (Cohen) Resnick, 86, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Bristol, widow of Michael D. Resnick, died on Wednesday (May 29, 2024) at home. Maggie was born on May 12, 1938, in Malden, MA and was a daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Cassin) Cohen. She was raised and lived most of her life in Bristol where she graduated from South Side School and Bristol High School. She attended UCONN and then earned a bachelor's and a master's degree from CCSU (formerly the Connecticut Teacher's College) in Education. She taught at Mary A. Callen School and Language Arts at Memorial Boulevard School in Bristol for a total of 30 years before retiring. In 2018, she moved to Rocky Hill to be closer to her daughters and was an active member of the Congregation Kol Haverim in Glastonbury. Maggie loved planning all the parties and was a talented knitter, enjoyed coloring, reading, and ice cream. She also

loved playing cards and could beat anybody at Gin Rummy. She was a fan of UCONN Men and Women's basketball, and her family would get together at each game this past season to cheer them on. Maggie is survived by two daughters: Geri Denyer and her husband, Allen of Cromwell and Debra Durkin and her husband, Brian of Portland; four

grandchildren: Melissa Dionne and her husband, Chris, Jessica Durkin and Henry Deane, Jacob Durkin, and Rachel Denyer; a great-grandson: Barrett Deane, who arrived on Wednesday; her longtime partner of 25 years: Mark Redman, and his sons: Shaun Redman of Southington and children: Addison and Katelyn Redman and their mother Christina, and Scott Redman and wife, Nicole of Avon and children: Benjamin and Reese Redman; two sisters: Elaine Maia and Sharon LeBeau, both of Florida; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers: Donald and Carl Cohen. The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers, Theresa and Laurel, with Home Instead for their dedicated care of Maggie. Funeral services will be held today (Friday, May 31, 2024) at 1 p.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, James P. Casey Rd, Bristol. The family will observe Shivah at Geri and Allen Denyer's home, 17 Iron Gate Lane, Cromwell, on Saturday between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Congregation Kol Haverim, 1079 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury, CT 06033. Funk Funeral Home is honored to serve the Resnick family. Maggie was an amazing friend to my mom Maureen Colbert who passed in 2015. I have wonderful memories of times spent with Maggie and her infectious laugh and smile. She will be missed!
