Terry Rae Wittern

1950 - 2022

Terry Rae Wittern passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 at her home in Broomfield following a long, courageous fight with breast cancer. She was born on July 18, 1950 in Des Moines, IA, to Elizabeth and Richard Sheehan. She was raised with her younger brother, David Sheehan, in Denver and later Northglenn. Following graduation from Northglenn High School, she attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she met her husband of 51 years, Roger Wittern. Together they have called Broomfield home since 1977. As a homemaker she dedicated many years to raising their two children - Chelsea and Matthew - and later worked as an administrative assistant for two CPAs. She was a gifted cook and baker, as well as an extraordinary cross-stitcher, seamstress, and quilter. She was also a Master Gardener and enjoyed tending to the many lovely plants in her home and yard. She loved animals of all types from her beloved dogs to even reptiles and arachnids. One of many examples was her insistence that spiders found in her home were not to be killed; they were to be captured and released outside unharmed. Terry loved - and was loved by - so many. Among her greatest joys was hosting family get-togethers, where she served from-scratch gourmet meals and her famous angel food cakes. She savored every moment of being a grandma to her two grandsons, and went to incredible lengths to plan activities and birthday trips; making memories they will cherish the rest of their lives. She is preceded in death by her father, Richard, and nephew Dimitri Ikaika Sheehan. She is survived by her husband, mother, children (Chelsea Johnson [Britton] of Colorado Springs, and Matthew [Allison] of Centennial), grandsons Evan and Weston Wittern, brother David (Nicole Tergeoglou), niece Ariel Tergeoglou (Travis Clark) and their son Dimitri Kainalu Clark, and nephew Dylan (Malia); all of Laupahoehoe, HI. A celebration of life is being scheduled for September. In lieu of flowers, the family requests modest donations be made in Terry's name to Colorado Beagle Rescue or Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (Kanab, Utah).
