Eduardo Gonzalez Obituary

EDUARDO GONZALEZ
Eduardo Gonzalez, 63, was called to the be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville.
Eddie was a very caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was dearly loved and greatly respected by his family and close friends. He was always available to help anyone; he was a very resourceful person, always guiding people in the right direction.
He was one of the first civil process servers in Cameron County. Under the leadership of the late District Judge Darrell B. Hester, they developed the first application for authorization to serve civil process in May 1995. Shortly afterward, he went into business with Professional Civil Process (PCP) from Austin, a statewide civil process firm.
Prior to establishing the civil processing company, Eddie served as a chief deputy for the Cameron County Sheriff's Department. He started working for the sheriff's department during the term of Boykin Fleming under the supervision of Eddie Lucio, Sr. as a clerk and dispatcher. He was later promoted to the rank of lieutenant and ultimately chief deputy under Sheriff Gus Krausse. He proudly served Cameron County for 15 years.
Eddie was an accomplished athlete during his years at Brownsville High School. He lettered in football and baseball as a star player . His 1964 classmates nicknamed Eddie "Weasel" because of his speed and agility on the field.
Eddie loved to play golf, especially tournaments. He was a life long member of the Pan American Golf Association (PAGA) and served as president of the association for several terms. During his presidency he assisted in hosting the National PAGA golf tournament in Brownsville. His favorite golf phrase was "We need an Eagle!"
Eddie was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Michelle Gonzalez; parents, Mariano and Natividad Gonzalez; his sister, Mary Grace Duval; and his brothers, Jesus "Mr. Chuy" Gonzalez and Constable Arturo M. Gonzalez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Virginia A. Gonzalez; his children, Deborah (Henry) Lozano, Eddie Gonzalez Jr. and Ronnie (Elida) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Samantha Michelle, Jacqueline Marie, Alexandra Isabel, Enrique Lozano III, and Ian Ronnie Gonzalez.
He is also survived by his sisters, District Clerk Aurora (Jose Luis) de la Garza, Oby (Guadalupe) Leal, and Nora (Leo) Pompa; brothers, Noe Gonzalez and Mariano (Chris) Gonzalez Jr.; aunts and uncles, Ignacia Munivez, Jose P. Munivez, Gonzalo Gonzalez, Nena Levrier and Rosa (Roberto) Garcia; sisters-in-law, Gloria Gonzalez and Teresa Gonzalez; over 30 loving nieces and nephews; and especially his favorite niece, Martha de la Garza

I wish to express my condolences to the Gonzalez family. Eddie will truly be missed. He has been in my prayers since I learned he was the hospital. I used Eddie exclusively for our civil process servicing needs and was amazed on how fast Eddie could find anyone we needed served. There was no hiding from Eddie. There is going to be some big shoes to be filled. May God bless each and everyone of you and see you through these trying times.
