San Antonio, Texas - MARY KAY "QUITA" LOFLIN It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Kay "Quita" Loflin. At the age of 79, on April 13, 2024, surrounded by family and love, she went home to be with the Lord.
Mary Kay was born on February 22, 1945 in Brownsville, Texas to Charles "Sid" and Esther Eidman. It was here in Brownsville that family, friends and fun became the story of Mary Kay's life. She attended Los Ebanos Elementary, Cummings Junior High and graduated from Brownsville High School in 1962. During her school years, she made many friends that would last throughout her lifetime. One of those lifelong friendships was with The Riveras that she would lovingly call her second family. Mary Kay always had a fun story to share about growing up in Brownsville. Even after moving away, she was proud to call it home.
Following high school, Mary Kay attended Texas Tech University and pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Mary Kay briefly lived in Houston after college but eventually returned to Brownsville where she began a successful career in real estate. She was very proud of being the recipient of the Million Dollar Club award for being a high producer and serving as President of the Brownsville Junior Service League.
In the late 1980's Mary Kay and her family moved to San Antonio, Texas. With this move and new job opportunities, she was blessed with many new close friendships. San Antonio would be where she and her family would remain.
After working for Dr. Linton Weems, Dr. William Goss and Wingstop Corporate, Mary Kay retired in July of 2013 . Throughout her career, Mary Kay's colleagues often said she was hard working and dedicated, but what they will always remember is her hilarious quips and infectious laugh.
Mary Kay had many loves and interests that included being with her family and friends, her grandchildren, the Hill Country, especially Hunt, Texas, and the Guadalupe River, gardening, music, laughter, a great hamburger, animals, reading, learning, a long drive and, of course, a good joke.
She would say her greatest loves and biggest accomplishments were her children, Charles and Cari, and her five grandchildren that gave her the title Mimi. She will be greatly missed.
Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Charles "Sid" and Esther Eidman; and dear friends, Sandy and Kenny Savino, Meg Charles, and Gonzalo "Ponzy" Cortinas.
She is survived by her children, Charles (Norma) Loflin and Cari (Ray) Morales both of San Antonio, Texas; her grandchildren, Joey (Dani) Morales, Gillian Loflin, Benjamin "Ben" Morales, Garrett Loflin and Kinley Morales; her sister, Eleanor (Reuben) Welsh; nieces, Heather Holland, Hilarie Lopez, and Heidi Holland; as well as many dear friends, her Rivera family and her sweet kitty Willy.
The family would like to thank caregivers Diana Meyers, Caring Senior Services, Theracare, Visiting Practitioners, Dr. R. Allen Baum, Dr. Patrick Hartsell, Dr. Mark Kipnes, the doctors and nurses of Methodist Stone Oak Hospital and Hope Hospice for their loving care and support for Mary Kay.
The family will welcome friends and family from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
