Nola Smith Obituary

Nola "Kathleen" Smith passed away peacefully at age 60 in her Richmond Hill home on July 6 after a brief, but determined battle with cancer.
Kathleen was born in Redbud, Illinois, on Sept. 23, 1955, to John Frances Delaney Sr. and Edna Marie Delaney, who precede her in death. She grew up in Atlanta, where she kept horses, rode wagon trails and frequented rodeos. Her hobbies included traveling, camping and collecting sewing machines.
Descended from a long line of artists, Kathleen was also a gifted painter and photographer.
She had a diverse career history, from computer technician with IBM, to quilter and antiques dealer, art teacher at Rambam Day School, and Realtor with Re/Max Accent. Active in the community, she was an alumnus of Armstrong State University, a member of Arts on the Coast and board member of the Savannah Board of Realtors.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Kevin Thomas Smith; daughter, Sharon Catherine Wilkes and her husband Shawn; son, Thomas Edward Smith; brother, John Frances Delaney Jr. and his wife Jerri; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Isis and Annie.
Kathleen fiercely loved her family and friends and was loved by all. Those close to Kathleen are familiar with her beautiful spirit and keen sense of humor, which stuck with her to the very end.
A private service will be held at a later date to honor Kathleen's life. In lieu of flowers, please consider the needs of the family. The Kathleen Smith Memorial Fund was created at www.giveforward.com to offset medical care and cremation costs. Please visit: https://goo.gl/oXPU8C
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the many friends and family who cared for her and her immediate family during her illness.

Mrs. Nola,
Although I did not get the chance to meet you. I'm certain your beautiful daughter, my coworker is a sure reflection of your amazing handiwork. For that I thank you and hope your journey to the other side is peaceful.
