Alfred "Nick" Oglesbee, 78, of Pioneer passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on Nov. 3, 1945 in Center Line, Michigan, to Vernon and Marion (Ring) Oglesbee. Nick proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
He was a member of the VFW Post 8628 and the American Legion Post 307, both in Pioneer. Nick worked at Hayes Albion in West Unity and then retired from Fulton Tubing in Archbold after 25 years.
Nick is survived by his children Joe (Nicole) Oglesbee of Hillsdale, Michigan, Mac Oglesbee of Lagrange, Indiana, and Sherry (Mark) Oglesbee Hamm of Orland, Indiana; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his significant other, Midge Aumend of Pioneer; siblings Catherine Scoville, Marta Carrino of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Laurie Tackett of Mount Victory, Ohio, and Dale Oglesbee of Columbus, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Matthew and Michael Oglesbee; brother, James Oglesbee; and sister, Rosemary Kelley.
Visitation for Nick will be on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. Services will be at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Christian Taylor to officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer with military honors provided by the Pioneer Veterans. Memorial contributions may be given to Pioneer Methodist Church.
