Lindy Lou Jackson, age 83, died July 15, 2024, at Candlestone Assisted Living in Midland, Michigan. She was born on Aug. 20, 1940, in Fort Wayne, Indiana; the only child of Amsey and Esther (Koeppe) White.
Lindy met her future husband, Larry Jackson, in high school but they started dating after graduation. The two were committed to one another in a long-distance relationship until they were married on Aug. 25, 1962. Larry preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1998.
Lindy graduated from Defiance College, in Defiance, Ohio, and started her teaching career in the elementary school in Maumee, Ohio. She was a very talented piano player and occasional organist at the Methodist Church in Bryan, Ohio. Lindy's husband received a job offer from Dow Chemical and the two moved to Midland, Michigan.
Lindy was an animal lover and readily volunteered her time at the Humane Society of Midland County and at the Oncology Floor at the Midland Hospital. She was very active in the First United Methodist Church and led the Midland County Literacy Program.
Lindy is survived by her son, Paul Jackson; her daughter, Julia Jackson; her grandchildren, Dane Jackson, Hana Abdalla, Ethan Abdalla and Graham Jackson.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug, 20, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, 315 W. Larkin St., Midland, Michigan. Family will greet guests starting at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment of cremated remains will be in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan City, Ohio, in October of 2024.
Memorials in Lindy's name may be made to the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E. Ashman St., Midland, MI 48642.

My condolences to the Jackson family. Your mom always made me smile when she would talk about my car from back in the day, she had great way about her. She was kind, caring and clearly loved her family. May your fond memories from the past bring you comfort.
