Roger D. Severence, age 71, of Kunkle, Ohio, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024, at the Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon. Roger was a communications technician at GTE and Verizon for many years prior to his retirement. Roger served on the Edon and Kunkle Fire Departments for over 50 years in total. He was very active in the Kunkle department, especially after his retirement.
Roger was born Nov. 24, 1953, in Bryan, the son of Donald A. and Evelyn E. (Ford) Severence. He was a 1971 graduate of Edon High School. Roger married Debra Jean Nelson on July 16, 1976, in Bryan and she preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 2012.
Roger is survived by his sons, Benjamin (Hannah) Severence, of Wadsworth, Ohio and Tony (Kelly) Severence, of West Unity; daughter, Amber Jones, of Kunkle; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and sisters, Wanda Firestone, of Montpelier, and Joyce Psurny, of Cantonment, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deb, and parents.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held in the Summer of 2025 and will be announced by his family. His arrangements have been entrusted to Krill Funeral Service, 860 W. Mulberry St., Bryan.
