William Rabberman Obituary

William "Bill" Rabberman
Newtown - William "Bill" Rabberman, 79 of Newtown, PA, died peacefully, surrounded by family. Born in Ellwood City, PA, Bill was a longtime resident of Washington Crossing and Newtown who lived a life of service to others. Bill graduated from Council Rock High School, Rider College with a Bachelor's Degree, and Temple University with a Masters in Special Education. He retired from Centennial School District after a long career as a Special Education teacher, where he also served as a swimming instructor.
Bill's commitment to service extended beyond his career and into his true love, coaching. He coached the Apaches Little League Team, the 13- and 15-year old Council Rock Newtown Little League All-Star teams (including the 15- year old team who were 1985 State Champions), Newtown Post 440 American Legion Baseball, and Council Rock North Varsity Girls Basketball. He also attended the Council Rock post-season wrestling tournaments and kept the team score, as well as keeping statistics for the Council Rock varsity football team and keeping score for Council Rock track and field meets. His years of service, often side by side with his brothers Richard and Robert, were recognized by his entry into the Council Rock Athletic Hall of Fame. Throughout his life, he quietly and consistently provided many children and young adults in our community with his athletic knowledge and expertise, as well as his care and concern.
In addition to his coaching, Bill spent many summers on Long Beach Island. Even after selling the family beach house, he drove to LBI to see performances at the Surflight Theatre. He was always happiest when family and friends joined him for a performance and dinner afterwards. For many years, he was also an avid runner. And he was a generous donor to many different charities and non-profits, including the Surflight Theatre.
Bill is the son of the late Charles and Mildred George Rabberman and brother of the late Robert. He is survived by his brother Richard and his sister-in-law Barbara Rabberman, his sister-in-law Anna Rabberman, and his nieces and nephews Kris Rabberman, Debbie (John) Cicchiello, Joy (Tim) Owens, Jeff (Lori) Rabberman, Brian Rabberman, and Kerri (Benjamin) Balsama. He was an important person for his great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a generous presence in the lives of his family, always finding the funniest birthday cards, complimenting home cooked meals, and being part of every family celebration and gathering.
Private services and interment were held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Bill's name may be made to Lewy Body Dementia, at www.lbda.org/donate

Me and my family will always be indebted to Bill for the influence he had on our 3 girls as part of the Council Rock North Girls Basketball team. The commitment, dedication and care he showed to my girls and the program will never be forgotten. He will truly be missed by all of us.

So sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He was a great guy. So glad we were able to spend time with him at basketball.
