Dear Fammily,
I just found out minutes ago about the passing of "Mr. Johnson." I am so distraught. Mr. Johnson was everyone's favorite teacher when I attended and graduated from CR, in 1967, the year that Mr. J. was class advisor. Mr. J's gifted, enthusiastic, knowledable teaching of world cultures 10th grade) was the reason I took his anthropology course in 12th grade. I am sure there were many other students who also signed up for another class with this wonderful teacher. I went on to major in anthropology in college due to Mr. J's introduction to this discipline.
I hero-worshiped Mr. J., and he is also one of the reasons I became a teacher. Mr. Johnson was THE MOST INSPIRING teacher I ever had, BAR NONE. I also had a secret crush on him (he was only nine years older than I), and I am sure I was not the only teenager who felt this way! This was because he personified what a good man should be: Morally strong, honest, dynamic, hardworking, and totally in love with his wife and family. He would sometimes share funny stories about his life with his dear Linda, and the love and pride he felt in her was wonderful to behold. I very well remember the day he came into class, on top of the world, to announce that he was a new father! We were all so thrilled for him. You all had the very best of a father and grandfather. I feel that an era has ended. Love, Connie (Dietrich) Grau
