Barbara L. Lyons

SYCAMORE: Barbara L. Lyons, 78, of Sycamore passed away Monday morning at Bucyrus Community Hospital emergency room, her death was unexpected. Barbara was born October 13, 1933 in Bucyrus to the late Franklin M. Johns Sr. and Grace (Hammond) Johns. She was married February 7, 1954 to Robert D. Lyons who preceded her in death on February 18, 2008. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers Franklin Johns Jr., Rev. Richard Johns; and sister Bonnie Johns.

Barbara is survived by sons, John Gregory Lyons, Sycamore, Dennis K. Lyons, Sycamore, Michael L (Mary) Lyons of Galion; grandchildren Emily Ann Dodson, Drew Deems, Nathan D. Seibert, Lia M. Seibert, and Megan C. Lyons; brother Dave (Joann) Johns of Canton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lyons retired in 2009 from Producers Livestock after working over 50 years. Prior to Producers, Barbara worked at the Farm Bureau and has been a sales person for Sarah Coventry, Home Interiors, Christmas around the World, and Shaklee products. Barbara graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1951 and was a member of the Bucyrus United Methodist Church where she had formerly been a trustee at Grace U.M. and served on various committees. She had been a volunteer for the Board of Elections throughout the past 50 years, was a member of the Community Chorus, volunteered for meals on wheels and March of Dimes, and was a member of the Community Concert and farm related organizations such as the OH Farmers Union and the Nat. Farmers Organization.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm in the Bucyrus United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Kraps officiating, burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The family suggests memorials be made to the Bucyrus United Methodist Church.

I still have the sailboat that Barb watched me make at the Harmon Fieled playground. We were just youngsters at the time which was during World War II.
She certainly was a fine individual. I will always have great memories of our get togethers as kids at the playground....Charlie Evers, formerly of Plymouth st. in Bucyrus.

We talked with Barb on the phone last Thursday, and as always we laughed and we had a great conversation. Barb was a beautiful person, and will be missed, but the memories are ever lasting.
