Jan LaSalle Obituary

BUCYRUS: Jan LaSalle, 58, of Bucyrus, went to be with her Lord Thursday morning, July 8, 2010 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1952 in Fulton, Missouri the daughter of George H. Shiverdecker who preceded her in death and Oleta (Perkinson) Shiverdecker who survives.
Jan graduated high school from Mt. Zion Schools in Ava, Missouri. She continued her education at Kansas City College & Bible School; Hobe Sound Bible College and received her Associates degree in Business from Ft. Scott Community College. In November of 1974 she married Rev. Ray LaSalle. Together they traveled fifteen years serving fulltime both nationwide and internationally in evangelism, while residing in Brownsburg, Indiana and Ft. Scott, Kansas. They then took a pastorate in Brazil, Indiana at the First Church of the Nazarene before moving to Bucyrus, Ohio where Ray currently pastors the Bucyrus First Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to spreading evangelism, Jan was an extremely gifted musician and vocalist. During her time spent in college, she traveled with the Overcomers, was a pianist for Kansas City College and Bible School and was a member of the Hobe Sound College Choirs. While living in Bucyrus, Jan was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she worked as a secretary, sang and certainly played piano for many years. Jan served on the board of Ray of Hope Ministries. She was a beloved mother and wife; a warm and loving person who never met a stranger and touched the lives of everyone she met. Jan made everyone around her feel special and at home.
She leaves for now, her husband of 36 years, Rev. Dr. Ray LaSalle; one daughter, Reneé LaSalle, son, Roger LaSalle and his wife, Dr. Emily Fitzer LaSalle; a grandson, Quinlan LaSalle; her mother, Oleta Shiverdecker; a brother, Jerry Shiverdecker and his wife, Nan; one niece, Elizabeth Shiverdecker; an aunt, Ruth Perkinson; and various aunts, uncles and cousins.
In addition to her father, Jan was preceded in death by in-laws, Violet and Wilber LaSalle and an uncle, Oather Perkinson.
Her family will receive friends from 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday, July 11 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2165 St. Rt. 4, Bucyrus, Ohio 44820, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Ray of Hope, Inc. through Wise Funeral Service or at the church during calling hours/service.
