Jeffrey Campbell Obituary

JEFF CAMPBELL

BUCYRUS: Jeff Campbell, 61, of Bucyrus passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family following a yearlong battle with cancer. Jeff was born June 19, 1952 in Mansfield to the late Glenn and Opal (Bradshaw) Campbell. On February 21, 1976, he married Rose (Morton) Campbell who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Eric of Bucyrus, Mike and wife Rachel of Columbus, Ben of Bucyrus, and Samantha (Beau) Campbell of Bucyrus; his grandson, Matthew, who he loved and was very proud of; sister, Paulette Rose of Fremont; his mother-in-law, Donna Morton of Bucyrus; and his special comfort givers, Sophie and Cooper.

Jeff lived his entire life in the community and graduated with Bucyrus Class of 1971. As a freshman he was on the mile relay team that broke a school record. During his school years, he was also active in Boy Scouts and he traveled by train to the Philmont Boy Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He began working at Checkmate Boats following high school where he met and married his wife Rose. During the mid-1970's he was a volunteer fireman for Bucyrus. A hard worker all of his life, he owned and operated his construction business and was co-owner of Bucyrus True Value Hardware . He served as the City of Bucyrus Service and Safety Director from 2000 - 2004.

He was a true pyro technician who enjoyed shooting fireworks commercially. He was a member of the Bucyrus ELKS, NRA, NFIB and PADI (Certified scuba diver). An avid hunter, he took many trips to Canada with family and friends and to visit with close friend Archie DeForge. He enjoyed many fun weekends at Lake Erie with Matthew and his good friend Roger.
