Mary A. Moll

FINDLAY: Mary A. Moll, 82, formerly of Bucyrus, died Friday, February 8, 2013 at 6:25 p.m. at Birchaven Village in Findlay, Ohio.

She was born on September 10, 1930 in Salem Township, Ohio, daughter of the late Maurice and Beatrice (Myers) Gaster.

Mary married William Yingling on May 10, 1950 and they divorced. She married Roger Lee Moll in 1973 and he died on July 17, 2004.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Nita) Yingling, Baroda, MI, Daniel (Paula) Yingling, DeWitt, MI; three daughters, Cheryl (Ken) Bakies, Findlay, Sandra (Jon) Kerr, Mesa, AZ, and Karen (Steve) Phillips, Carey; one step-son, Ray Moll, Edmonton, OK; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and one brother, Floyd Gaster, Nevada, OH.

Mary was a 1948 graduate of Carey High School. Mary's work ethic was evident throughout her life. She began work as a waitress while in high school and later worked as a secretary. She began working for the Ford Motor Company in 1961, making spark plugs. She retired in July 1996 from Allied Signal in Fostoria as an inspector.

Having had a near death experience as a child, her faith was exceptionally strong and it was nurtured by the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Carey.

She was a member of T.O.P.S. in Bucyrus, UAW Local #533 in Fostoria, she was a former member of Carey Garden Club, Rosary Altar Society and Carey Philharmonic.

Mary enjoyed all kinds of music and was trained in classical and opera genres. Her dream was to become an opera singer. Her beautiful soprano voice was enjoyed by many as she sang for weddings, on the local radio, and as a member of the Carey Philharmonic. Her children were always very proud when she sang her solos. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, flower arranging, cooking and bowling.

Family was everything to Mary. She loved spending time with family, whether it be a holiday gathering or a short visit from a grandchild.

Some of the biggest lessons she taught her children were working together, helping each other, responsibility, and sharing. One of her favorite sayings was "never say never" because you never know what trials you will encounter in your life.

Visitation will be February 22, from 2-8 p.m. at STOMBAUGH-BATTON FUNERAL HOME, Carey. A Scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Basilica of Our Lady of Consolation, Carey with Rev. John Stowe OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Carey.
