EL PASO, TX: Persis P. Beard, age 98 of 308 Serrania Drive, El Paso, Texas and formerly of Sycamore, Ohio died at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Maplecrest Assisted Living, Bucyrus, Ohio. She was born on November 27, 1917 in Bucyrus, Ohio to Paul and Pauline (Lukert) Bucher. She married Leonard Beard on May 28, 1938 and he died May 3, 2002.

Surviving is one son, Michael (Mary Lou) Beard, Shelby, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Michael L. Beard and Theresa Maly, both of El Paso, Texas and one great-grandchild, Casey Maly. Persis; is also survived by one brother, Gilbert Bucher, Nevada, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by one sister and seven brothers besides her parents and husband.

Persis was a bookkeeper for many years for the former Sycamore Mill and Pillsbury Co. She was a 1933 graduate of Oceola High School and a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ. For hobbies Persis loved to play cards, go dancing, camp at Sunset Springs in Oceola in the summers and spend in her later years winters in Pinellas Park, Florida.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Robin LaBolt offificating. Burial will take place at a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23 ,2016 from 12 Noon till 2:00 P.M. prior to her memorial service.
