Dr. Robert Lee Solt Jr.

BUCYRUS: Robert Lee Solt, Jr. M.D., F.A.C.S., age 77, of Bucyrus, Ohio, passed away at home with his family on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. Robert was born on December 28, 1931 in Bucyrus, where he lived most of his life. He was the son of Dr. Robert L. Solt and Grace (Rinehart) Solt, who preceded him in death.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Marilyn (Smith) Solt.
A graduate from The Ohio State University in 1953, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. In 1957, Bob graduated from OSU Medical School where he was a member of the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity. He served his internship at the White Cross Hospital and Riverside Hospital in Columbus. He practiced as a surgeon in Bucyrus from 1962 until he retired in 1995. He was a former Chief of Staff and Board Member of The Bucyrus Community Hospital. He was a life long member of The First United Methodist Church.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Smith) Solt of Bucyrus; and his sons, Robert L. III (Mary Kay) Solt of Holland, Ohio and Timothy S. (Janelle) Solt of Pataskala, Ohio; and grandchildren, Robert L. Solt IV, and Monica K. Solt, both of Holland and Erica Moore of Los Angeles, California, daughter of Tim and Janelle Solt. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Charles (Doris) Solt of Columbus; and his many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bob was an avid Ohio State football fan, Eagle Scout, and loyal member of the Rusty Zippers. He enjoyed researching genealogy, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church in Bucyrus from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, July 18 immediately followed by a funeral service with Rev. Dr. O. French Ball officiating. Interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
