SCHALBERG - Andrew J., Sr. March 6, 2012, of Bowmansville, NY, beloved husband of the late Erna M. (Valentine); loving father of Andrew J. Jr. (Carol), Beth Ann (David) Hess, Thomas (Jennifer), Mary Jo (Dale) Roselle, Kathleen (Fred Perry) and Karen Schalberg; proud Papa of Erin, Andrew J. III, Michael, Austin, Colin, Matthew, Jillian, Heidi L., Jeffrey and Heidi M.; great-grandfather of one; brother-in-law of Patricia (late Charles) Schalberg and Rosemary (Robert) Kunz. The family will be present to receive friends Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the DIETRICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 2480 Kensington Ave., where prayers will be offered Saturday at 8:45 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 5337 Genesee St., Bowmansville. Andrew was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW-II and was an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. Donations may be made to Honor Flight Buffalo. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you right now. I have only wonderful memories of Uncle Andy and Aunt Erna's house growing up. Uncle Andy and Aunt Erna will always be my favorite aunt and uncle always felt welcomed and loved at your home. I hope you know how much he will be missed. I am thinking of all of you and hope that the good memories get you through this time of grieving.

HE LOVED HIS FAMILY FIRST AND FORMOST, HE WAS PROUD TO BE WW11 VETERAN. HE LIKE TO DRINK BEER AND ROOT FOR HIIS FAVORITE SPORTS TEAMS AND YES HE LOVED HIS FIREWORKS LOL. Our sincere sympathy in the loss of one our of Veterans, Mr. Andrew Schalberg. It was truly and honor and privilege to have escorted him on our very first flight to see his memorial he had waited so long to see. He was truly one of the "Greatest Generation".
