Ann HIBBARD Obituary

HIBBARD - Ann Marie "Penny"
Our wonderful Mom, Ann Marie (Penny) Hibbard, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, surrounded by her children, Katherine Peterman, William Hibbard, Margaret duFour and Colleen Hibbard. Born in Niagara Falls, Ann Marie ("Penny") was the oldest of Mike and Ann Hickey's six children; Frank, Francis, Judith Long, Maureen Tarrant and Michael. Her father nicknamed her Penny, because of her auburn-red hair. Penny, the receptionist at Uhaul Rich, and Tom, the Naval officer and University of Michigan graduate recently back in town, met on a blind date. They were soon married on May 30, 1958. They struck out on their own and formed Hibbard Engineers in 1963. Hibbard Engineers grew to over 100 employees, three offices and was one of the largest A/E firms in Western New York. Penny and Tom enjoyed tennis, skiing and time with family at their homes in Lewiston Heights, Ellicottville, Siesta Key and Norland, Ontario (the legendary Cottage). They retired to Siesta Key and spent their days enjoying life, grand kid visits, and summers at the Cottage. A remarkable and accomplished life. A Mass to celebrate Penny and Tom (delayed due to Covid) will be held at Saint Peters Church, 620 Center Street in Lewiston on Saturday at 10 AM. The Mass will be immediately followed by a luncheon at the Niagara Falls Country Club. Friends and family are welcome.
