Benjamin Hughes Obituary

Hughes, Benjamin James

Jan 29, 1980 - Jun 3, 2024

On June 3, our remarkable Ben died suddenly at the family vacation home in New Paltz, NY. He is survived by his wife Molly Glick; children Gabriel and Griffin; mother Beverly Hughes; stepfather Brian Brady; brothers Adam (Maggie), Nicholas (Bethany), Jacob (Katie) and Alex (Stephanie); step siblings Anna Brady (Brad Ellis), Evan Brady (Ashley O"Hara), Leslie Brady (Matt Johnson); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceqsed by his father, Fredrick Hughes. A Buffalo native and Canisius High School graduate, Ben was a polymath in his interests, and brought his wide ranging curiosity to both his children and his work. He was a remarkable individual who profoundly touched the lives of many. His witty sense of humor and uplifting attitude made everyone around him feel important and included. He was an extraordinary friend, father and colleague, and his legacy of creativity, mentorship and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. Ben was VP Creative at Squarespace in New York City, where he led his team in creating brand recognition, including several award winning Super Bowl ads. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Saturn Club September 6 at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to the Benjamin J. Hughes '97 Scholarship Fund at Canisius High School. Gifts can be sent directly to Canisius High School at 1180 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209 or can be made online at https://www.canisiushigh.org/support.
