To the family of Barney Powers and friends.
You will be in by prays.Barney was a dear friend of our family on Dirkson Ave.
I have many fond memories, like when Barny brought a Switching Stick from the Railroad, we used it as a bat to play street baseball. It was all the GOOD TIMES I remember Barney filled our lives when we were growing up. Boy I sure wish we could turn the clocks back to the good old times when we hung around together. But, in my heart I know GOD will take good care of Barney, and he might be playing Baseball with the Angels,so if you here a clap of thunder its probably Barney swinging his bat.
I know he set a good example on earth and the world was A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE HE WAS HERE.

To the Powers Family both those direct and indirect:
May everyone's fond memories of him be your source of healing, because you KNOW his smiling face is in heaven. After my catechism class would be see and talk to each other at the 10:30 mass at Fourteen Holy Helpers church. He was a very special person and will definitely be missed even though the last few years I was not able to see him much, but we would write to each other at Christmas.

We thank God for Barney in our lives for almost 50 years. We were part of the "CYC Kids" at St. Bona's back in the late 50's and early 60's. Mary & Barney, as our adult sponsors, gave us such a good example of loving, caring, fun Christian living. On our frequent trips back to Buffalo, we have enjoyed our get togethers with Barney & Ruth. A visit to Schwabl's was highlighted with Barney sharing stories of the "good old times". We're proud to say Barney was our friend, and Ruth and the family will be in our prayers.

Barney was my first baseball coach in 1952 and he was like a father to all of us. While he and Mary did not have children of their own, they had countless children who thought of them just like their Mom and Dad. Just 2 years ago when my Mom passed, Barney was there!! He was such a respected and loved man. He was an inspiration, a confidant and a dear friend. God bless his soul. Chuck Osborne

Barney was my grandmother's (Monica [Neu] Graesser) cousin, and my great-grandfather's (Edward Neu) nephew. He was close to all of the children (Ruth, Norm, Dan), grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of Harold and Monica Graesser, plus all of our related spouses and friends. He was a nice guy who always welcomed you warmly and met you with a smile and firm handshake. I will always remember the thanksgiving dinners and other parties he invited us to at his home. He chauffeured my bride to the church on our wedding day in 1992, and then let us use his Town Car for a nice ride from the church to our reception. So we were able to add some class to our wedding because of Barney. I know he had numerous friends at the Latin Mass Church community he attended with Ruth, and was well loved by many. He loved hearing about my boy's recent experiences in Little League. I would have loved to see him coach back in the day. Respectfully and in loving memory - Ed Graesser and family
