I did not know that you had passed until long after you were gone. Thinking of you I call your dad and he shared with me that you had transcended. I grieved greatly when I learned the news. Mr. Silmon as always spoke softly and consoled me. You were my friend, my love and someone I admired deeply. I never forgot how we met, Central State University. You were the only thing good that came out of my attending Central State for 3 quarters, but our friendship developed, and you became a part of my life. I was looking through some old boxes and found letters from you, they were written at a time when you had fallen on challenging times. But yet you still gain wisdom from even those time that you expressed so elegantly. You were wise beyond your years, and many admired you for your wisdom. I have often thought of our last conversation, when you asked me to come to Dallas, you needed me. I was not able to make it and for some time I regretted not being able to make the trip. The reason I write today is because last night you were in my dream, the conversation was so real, "Shirley" as you nicknamed me, you said all is well and I always loved you, be well my friend. So today, I finally am able to say goodbye to you and say to the world Bobbie Lee Silmon was my friend and I loved you dearly. May your Rest be In Peace. Shalom

To the family,

Bobbie and I were class mates and good friends through the years. We had a great time and got through graduate school and ended up in hte same city, Dallas. We continued to be in touch regularly and shared common friends, even though our employers were competitors. I respected you energy, drive, and ability to win in many situations. I even remember the old car you had in grad school. Everybody knew it would not make it to Dallas, so you shipped it instead. Always a thinker, always on top. We all have had our ups and downs, sometimes the downs win. Your real friends will not forget you-just remember the things you went through. Hugh Harrison- friend since 1980.
