Velma, Steve, Rachael, Aaron and Joe ~ my heart aches for you and the loss of Brian. I have years of memories of seeing Brian grow from a cute little kid to a kind young man. The fondest memory I have is of one Easter. The night before, I was helping you fill Easter eggs to hide around the house for the kids to find the next morning. Little did we know Brian got out of bed and came down stairs to get some water.... and caught us. We told Brian that we found the eggs already laying around and we were checking them to make sure the Easter Bunny didn't try anything funny! (sorry, Brian, I think after that night you knew that, yes, there indeed was NO Easter Bunny!)

Please remember all the wonderful memories you have of Brian...they will help you through this difficult time. He will always be in your mind and heart.

This is to my little bro
I am so sorry you had to go
I never got to say goodbye
A message to god I ask you why

Though you only lived for a while
With every person you met there was a smile
There is no better friend I have had
Then the one given to me by my mom and dad

I just want to open that door
Walk upstairs and see you once more
Life would be easier with you by my side
If you hear me brother you don’t have to hide

If I only foresaw the end of that day
I would have said what I needed to say
Brother I just wanted you to stay
But god wouldn’t let you live that way

I can’t say how much I miss you bro
No one can ever tell me so
You are gone for now but not forever
Sooner or later we will be together

Brian was one of the most hilarious people I knew, every time i saw him he had some terrific story to tell. he will be missed an unfathomable amount by all of his family and friends but I know that he knows how many people loved him. I will always remember him and he will always remain in all of our hearts.

You're still here in my heart and mind,
still making me laugh cause your stories live on.
I hold you in a thought and I can feel you.
I feel you and this gives me strength and courage.
The tears I have cried for you could flood the earth
and I know you have wiped each one away.
For you Brother, I promise you this,
I will go on with my life and make you proud. I will always hold you in my heart.
I promise you I will be missing you everyday till the end of time,
but this is not my end and I can't hold my head underwater....I need to breathe.
I need to love and miss you, but I also need to live because through me you will live,
you will still laugh and love,
you will still sing and dance,
you will still hug and kiss.
You will forever be in our lives,
you will forever be a brother,
a son,
an uncle
and friend.
I am going to miss your shining face
I think of you and wonder why?
I might cry or smile,
but at the end of the day I am one day closer to you....

I was sad to learn of Brian's passing this week. I had the great fortune of meeting Brian his freshman year at Kenmore West and keeping in touch with him by being his consultant physical therapist through his high school years. He always had a big smile and was happy to give me a few minutes of his free time at school to answer all my questions or voice any concerns(which he never had any for me!)My thoughts and prayers go out to Brian's family----

November 3, 2009

So sorry for your lose, we will miss Brian's smile. Our prayers are with

Brian means so many things to all of us and he will be missed tremendously. We are so lucky to have Brian in our family, not only as a nephew or cousin, but also as a friend. We will forever remember the fishing trips, darien lake weekends and all the family gatherings that we spent with Brian. He left us with so many memories. Memories we will always cherish and hold close to our hearts.

May there be comfort in knowing that Brian is so special and will never be forgotten.
Always remember how much you are loved and cared about.
Hold tight to all the wonderful memories.
Lean on your family and friends for strength.
And always know that we will always and forever be here for you

To the Rider family, my sincere thoughts and prayers are with you and Brian at this most difficult time. I had the opportunity to work with Brian at Manzella's Restaurant. I had a nickname for him "workhourse", that's because he was so dedicated to what he had to get done. At the time, he was just a kid, but he communicated with the staff and clients as if he were an adult. He would ask the most sensible questions, would pop out every once in a while to check out the score of a game, and always had something whitty to say. I have worked with a lot of kids, a few stand out more than others. I try to find the good even in the worst of behaviors. In Brian, that came easy. He was not only a good kid, he was great kid. The way he carried himself, and the impression he left on people will stay with me forever. God bless you Brian and all your family, and thanks for the times we had together, I learned a lot from you buddy.

A Mom

October 15, 2009

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Ruth Ann Mahaffey (author)
God Bless you in the days to come.
