SCHORY - Carl F.,
March 4, 2023, of Grand Island. Loving husband of Maria (nee Emmi) Schory. Cherished father of Carla (Anthony) Piccolo. Son of the late Dorothy and Norman Orts. Brother of the late Barbara Mayer and Charles Orts. Born in Buffalo in 1942. A 1961 graduate of Maryvale High School who excelled in football, baseball, basketball and track. After graduating from Western Michigan University, he returned to Buffalo as a social worker for the BPS preschool program. He ran the Visual Literacy Program and helped to form parent advisory groups and toy lending libraries at the preschools. He edited award winning newsletters and a nationally honored Workbook for Parents. He taught classes at ECCC and had parent participation research published by the US Office of Education. He went on to work in the Family Infant Program at the Cantalician Center. In 1982 he formed Snapshot Puzzles, Inc. which produced custom photo products. When he retired in 2010, SPI was the largest producer of custom mail order puzzles in the US. Friends may call Friday 4-7 PM at the Kaiser Funeral Home 1950 Whitehaven Rd., Grand Island.
