Lovingly called "Greta" by her cherished girlfriends, passed to Eternal Life due to natural causes at the age of 81. Throughout her life, she was a steadfast and devoted parishioner at several Roman Catholic churches within the Diocese of Buffalo, nurturing her faith and community. Carolyn graduated from Cheektowaga Central High School in 1960, attended D'Youville College, and served her country with pride as a dedicated and honorable member of the United States Coast Guard from 1972 to 1974. Subsequently, Carolyn's professional journey included many years at the New York Telephone Company, followed by a fulfilling career at Erie County Social Services until her retirement. She devoted her life to the service of others through her extensive volunteer work at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, the Response to Love Center, and her parish community working bingo, among other charitable causes. In a final act of selfless giving, Carolyn donated her body to support medical research through the University at Buffalo's Anatomical Gift Program. Carolyn was predeceased by her father, Edward T. Cross, her mother, Leona M. Skolen, and her brother, George T. Cross. She was a beloved aunt to Michael (Jennifer) Cross, Kathleen (Anthony) Calamunci, and Sandra (Scott) Ambrose, as well as a great niece and four great nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held in Western New York later this year, where Carolyn's life and contributions will be celebrated by family and friends. In lieu of flowers and to honor her legacy of giving, donations may be made in her memory to the organizations she held dear, Roswell Park or Response to Love.
