89, of Lucinda, formerly of western New York, and Sacramento California, died at her home in Lucinda. Born in Kenmore N.Y, to Cecil and Elva Black Ramier. Mrs. Bauer married David Bauer of Lucinda, on November 22, 1952, at St. Paul church in Kenmore. They raised their family of ten children in Eden, New York. Mrs. Bauer was a successful writer of 9 books and numerous articles in national magazines. While living in the WNY area, she worked for Holiday Inn in Hamburg and for the Eden School system. While raising their family in Eden, she served as an officer in the Altar and Rosary Society, a member of the Mission Team, and belonged to The Witness Choir at Immaculate Conception church. She also edited and wrote the parish Newsletter. After her retirement in 1986, she and her husband moved to Sacramento CA, where she volunteered her writing skills as a Grant Writer for Senior Gleaners, Inc a non-profit food bank. She was instrumental in establishing the Baby Food Program, which supplied baby food and diapers to needy families. In 1995, she and Dave moved back to Lucinda and built their house in the woods overlooking the original Lewey Bauer homestead. A member of St. Mary church in Crown, Mrs. Bauer volunteered as the office assistant in the rectory and wrote the prayer petitions for weekend liturgies. Trained in Eden as a Eucharistic Minister, she served in all three parishes she attended, for more than twenty years. She served as various officers for Our Lady's Guild at St. Mary's. She also coordinated the first Scripture Study program at St. Mary's, in 1996. Besides writing, she enjoyed baking, hunting, fishing, and crocheting and knitting tiny garments for her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was never too busy to take a walk through the woods, or splash in the frog pond with the grandchildren. She enjoyed competing in Scrabble, Cribbage or Euchre games with family members. Surviving her are children; Catherine Bauer of Buffalo, NY, Barbera Chavez and Thomas Bauer of Sacramento CA, Jean Caratta of Twin Falls, ID, Rose Lampke of Angola, NY, Jason Bauer of Lucinda, PA and Michael Bauer of Dunkirk, NY. Mrs. Bauer is survived by 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David Bauer, Sr., her sons David, Jr., Russell and James along with her sisters Joy Wesser and Betty Strong, and her brother Jamies Ramier. She was the last remaining member of her family. Family and friends will be received on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the Borland-Ensminger Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper, PA. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crown, PA, with the Rev. Cory Pius, Pastor, as Celebrant.
