Growing up two doors away from Charles, his sisters, and his parents was very much a big plus. Though Charles was somewhat older, I still recall his role in the daily lives of his family, the energy he brought when he just entered a room, and that low, smart, happy voice.
To Dona and Charles' immediate family, I'm very sorry for your loss. I want you all to know that Charles "Brother" Ritter is widely and fondly remembered.

I would like to convey my most sincere sympathy to your family. Charles was an excellent proffessor that actually took the time to answer questions, even if they weren't on the lesson plan. He always had a wonderful sense of humor and would put joke answers in with the multiple choice answers (jokes that only someone that knew the material would understand the humor of.) My husband and I met in his advanced microbiology class and we still use some of his humor in our conversation. He will not be forgotten by either of us.

We were neighbors of the Ritters since 1953. We have known Charles for most of our lives. To his sisters, Charlene and Dona, Charles was always "Brother." To us, he was a fine young man who found great success in everything he set his hand to.

Charles had a good life and will be fondly remembered by many people. I think that is a legacy to be proud of.

I know that we will miss him, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family.
