Dear Dan, Carol, Melissa, Shauna, Donovan, Sean, and our entire family,
Our family has lost a son & nephew, partner, father, brother, friend...I do my best to honor that here! And...although I can only understand to a small degree the hole left behind... with no forewarning...by anyone so loved... I pray this helps some wee bit...to allow... enable…the grief! Definitely keepin' y'all in my most-loving prayers that Christ hold you close in this trying time!
When my mother died, even after a years-long battle with cancer, I was shattered by the loss…inconsolable…she was my mentor! BUT, "If your faith assures you she's in heaven, then what are the tears all about?!?" I hold eternity with God a precious, hard-won, and cherished prize...but... in the interim, the answer lies below...and believe me...I understand the tears often are not nearly as casual as this implies!
SELFISH TEARS
(I eulogize my beloved mother - March, 1989)
Today we cry...must admit they're selfish tears.
You see...our faith assures your journey's done.
But it's not for you we mourn, at all, my dear;
It's for those of us you've left behind...alone!!!
We share your joy...share your happiness at rest,
Your painful fears now for forever stilled.
You've fought the good fight, passed the final test,
But you've left behind a hole that can't be filled!!!
So, until we each rejoin you some someday,
And, while your memory buoys us through those years,
We'll miss you...but continue on our way,
And, from time to time, we'll cry our selfish tears!!!

Sorry for your loss! Ill never forget him he was a great man,good father & good friend! Always knew how to make someone laugh. Hell be greatly missed! me and my boys will always love him and miss him! amongst so many others who hearts he touched! may he R.I.P."White Boy" My prayers & thoughts are with all of you guys!

i guess God needed another angel. theres nothing anyone can say to ease the pain. share your tears, give lots of hugs, and remember how he made everyone laugh. my biggest sympathies are for his boys. everyone will carry Dan in their hearts.

Dear Family:
I am so sorry for your loss. I only got to know Dan for a short time when he came to work in the PHH department at Sykes. I could see the pride he had in his children as he spoke of them and could see that he was a great father. Dan's humor made my busy work days fun and the slow days went by faster when he was around. He will be sorely missed by all of us. God bless all of you.
