Dean Drew Obituary

Drew, Dean A.

September 30, 1925 - January 26, 2025

Passed peacefully at home at age 99. Devoted husband of late Florence "Loney", to whom he was married for 64 years. Father of Dean M. (Karen), late Daniel P. (Dee) and Dale A. (Colleen); grandfather of Bradley A., Douglas A. (Carrie), and Conner M. (Emily); great-grandfather of five great-grandsons, and survived by many nieces and nephews. Dean enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943, earned his pilot's wings and 2nd Lt. commission, and served through 1945. After his service he attended college and the University of Buffalo Law School. Graduating in 1953, he entered law practice with his parents, DeSilver and Edna, and continued to practice until retirement in 2017 at age 92. Outside of work he focused on his family, enjoying his home in Buffalo and his summer home in Ridgeway, and travelling to spend time with friends and extended family throughout the U.S. and overseas. Dean contributed to the early development of Kevin Guest House and was named an Honorary Life Board Member for his help. He was active in community issues with the forerunner of the Linwood Preservation District & Friends. He was a regular Red Cross blood and apheresis donor for many years. The family expresses its thanks to all the personnel at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo who provided many years of kind and caring treatment. We credit you for enabling him to enjoy such a long and full life. No prior visitation. A Celebration of Dean's Life will be held by the family in the near future. Gifts in Dean's memory can be made to the VA WNY Healthcare System (memo line "Willow Lodge") c/o Volunteer Services, 3495 Bailey Ave., Buffalo NY 14215 or to the UB Anatomical Gift Program, 128 Farber Hall, 3435 Main St., Buffalo NY 14214.
