Dear Rachel, Sarah, Ruth and Carolyn, You have my sympathy on the passing of Don. I knew him first as my Latin teacher for six semesters. I learned that he and my brother Tom had been friends in high school, and I discovered that my niece Jen had done some babysitting for Don's daughters years later. I must say that Mr Fabiano was not only the best and my fave teacher at Lafayette, he was a subtle and brilliant role model. I never heard him lecture a student for making an error, but he had a way of encouraging us to understand what was expected of us in the classroom and was generous with his time to help us improve, which led inevitably to our becoming more responsible in the real world. Those lessons were not in the syllabus, but are the ones that have lasted. Don's humour and demeanor are still appreciated, and made learning more of an adventure than a chore. On a personal level, the fact that he actually cared about how his students progressed placed him a few rungs above most educators under whom I have had the privilege of studying, and for three years straight! He was the rock star of Latin I, II and III. Noah, Owen and Neil: Someday, if not already, you'll spend more time smiling and laughing when you reminisce about your Granddad than you do at this sad time. I'll always remember him with kindness. Don was Fab.

Requiesce in pace.

Don was a friend when he was at UB in 1964 - 65. He was a lot of fun and had a great sense of humor. I think of him fondly.

Don was the administrator in charge of the former Sch75 which had become offices and a warehouse. When I was assigned to the building as the Chief Engineer, I was warned that he could be difficult to deal with.
Yeah, right !! He was TERRIFIC . Everything you could ask for in an Administrator. Maybe the reputation was because his skill in putting a stuffed shirt in their place
May you rest in peace, my friend. One of my favorite people from one my favorite assignments
