Donald LAUZON Obituary

LAUZON - Mr. Donald J. "Don"
83, of North Tonawanda passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 from complications due to a stroke. He was born September 4, 1936 in Worcester, Massachusetts, the oldest child of Joseph and Hazel Martin Lauzon. Don was raised in Fort Covington, NY and attended grade school at the Old Country Schoolhouse on County Road 1 and then Fort Covington High School. In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. Don worked construction at the Saint Lawrence Seaway and Niagara Falls Power Projects. On November 07, 1959 he married Martha Gorrow and moved to Niagara Falls.Don worked in various machine shops before settling at Buffalo Pumps in North Tonawanda. He then worked at Pepsi-Cola Bottling in Cheektowaga for 10 years as their truck mechanic. He returned to Buffalo Pumps in 1983 and worked until retirement in 2011.Don enjoyed restoring automobiles and pick-up trucks and was often present at local car shows displaying his black 1952 Ford F1 pick-up or blue 1968 Chevrolet Corvair Monza with its 455 ci Oldsmobile Toronado engine in the rear. He could be counted on whenever a friend or neighbor had car trouble or they just needed some extra muscle. Don is survived by Martha, his wife of 60 years, and five children, Diane Lauzon (Niagara Falls), Wayne and Karyl Lauzon (Senoia, GA), Todd and Tammy Lauzon (Luthersville, GA), Lisa and Robert Portano (New Smyrna Beach, FL), and Donald and Beth Lauzon (North Tonawanda); nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six brothers, Philip and Sylvia (Fort Covington), Robert and Ann (St. Regis Falls), Carl and Mona (Fort Covington), Harold and Emily (Fort Covington), Michael and Kathleen (Fort Covington), Paul and Darlene (Fort Covington); and three sisters: Margaret Chifton (Tennessee), Rita and Jim (Chateaugay), Anne and Judy (Johnstown) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don was predeceased by his parents, brothers Gerald, Joseph, Roger, and Ronald; sisters, Theresa Almond, Helen Burl and Janet Marlauk. Due to the current health restrictions a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
