SOBOCINSKI - Donald R. "Corky" June 8, 2009, of Cheektowaga, NY, beloved husband of Geraldine R. (nee Ziolkowski) Sobocinski; dearest father of DebraAnn (Charles, Jr.) Lattuca and Ronald (Sharon Gallagher) Sobocinski; dear grandpa of Charles, III and Julia; brother of Carol Sobocinski; son-in-law of Angeline Ziolkowski; brother-in-law of Patricia (Alexander) Bonczkiewicz; also survived by nieces and nephews. Family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the MELVIN J. SLIWINSKI FUNERAL HOME, 85 George Urban Blvd (west of Harlem Rd) where funeral services will be held on Friday at 9 AM and from St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 AM. Entombment St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Mr. Sobocinski was a Coast Guard veteran of WWII, member of Teamsters Local #375, a business agent for three years, part time employee with the Town of Cheektowaga, an avid baseball player and New York Yankees fan, inducted into the WNY Softball Hall of Fame in 1978 and played semi-pro football for the Blasdell Bombers.

Everyone at Tri Star is very saddened by the loss of Corky. He did us a lot of favors, was well liked, and always made people smile. We will miss him greatly. We will all have a beer for him!!!

Peace my friend. You will always be remembered for your heart and caring for others. You were a great friend and I will always think of you out on that softball diamond and whenever I watch the Yankees play. It will always be "the top of the 4th".
