Edward BRADY Obituary

BRADY - Edward Patrick
"Eddie"
Age 70, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Sunday morning, June 12, 2022. Eddie, the world's best brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend, will be greatly missed by his six siblings, Paul, Joanne, Jimmy, Marilyn, Patrick, and Mary Beth; along with 12 nieces and nephews; large extended family; and many devoted, dear friends. Eddie loved Buffalo and scoured estate sales for Courier Express and Iroquois collectibles. He was a paperboy for the Courier Express in his youth and later on a bartender/manager at Mulligan's BrickBar, The Pierce Arrow, and Hemmingway's until he opened Eddie Brady's Tavern in 1990. Louis Mustillo's off Broadway play BARTENDERS, featuring Eddie, was a loving portrait of the beautiful, funny, generous man that Eddie was. Eddie's youngest brother, Patrick, is keeping his legacy alive at the popular Eddie Brady's - 97 Genesee St. Eddie graduated from Cathedral School, IN Q965, where he was an altar boy and Cardinal Dougherty in 1969, where he is remembered as an outstanding football player. He served in the Air Force National Guard during the Vietnam War. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27th, at 10:00 AM, at St. Michael Church, 651 Washington St., Buffalo. I had to sit with this sad news for awhile - so sorry Pat, and condolences to your/Eddie's family, of course. I thought about what I could say about this really big and positive presence in my life.. So I'll say this: I never saw your face, Eddie Brady, expected or unexpected, when I was not happy to see you, when you weren't a fun, or comforting presence. And maybe that is saying enough

Before the Croce's, the Ciminelli"s, the Termini"s, the Jamal's - before all of them, there was a man with a vision for an awakening in downtown Buffalo. That man was Eddie Brady. Many the time in the early 90's when Eddie and I were the only ones in "Brady's" at lunchtime. I questioned his wisdom and we often discussed it. But Eddie hung in there. Eddie hung in there despite all the personal obstacles in his path. Eddie had a vision and Eddie was right. RIP Visionary, you deserve it.

I'm an old friend of Eddie's from back in the early 80's. I met him while working at the Pierce Arrow and partying at Mulligans. I instantly connected with him because of his kindness, warmth and sense of humor. He was a gem of a human being and I will forever remember traveling to some wacky medieval restaurant in Canada one night with him, dressed in medeival clothes and eating with our hands, playing our roles to the hilt (Eddie, of course, dressed like a Friar), etc. We laughed and laughed and had such a good time. Attending a Sabres game with him and cheering them on...so many memories. I moved out of state and lost touch but many is the time I've thought fondly of him and our fun together. He will be sorely missed. My sincerest condolences. He was one of a kind.

Eddie was such a kind, generous friend to me. Any time I would enter into his establishment without a smile on my face he would make sure to ask how myself and my family were doing and always provide advice and cheer me up. I have such fond memories of laughs we shared together at the bar over the years. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to the entire Brady family.

For many years I have come to Buffalo from Toronto, yearly, to see my cousins. It has always been a tradition to go to Eddie Brady's. We so enjoy/ed the friendliness of Eddie and his staff/regulars, the great music/jukebox, and the cozy setting (in the heart of Buffalo) incl neat fixtures. Long live Eddie Brady's. RIP Eddie. We will sure miss you but we will never forget you. You are truly a Buffalo icon.
