May 26, 2021, age 80. Beloved husband of 57 years to Geraldine "Gerri" (nee Bruccoleri) DiRe; devoted father of Maria (Patrick) Elwood, Michelle (Gary) Peters and Deanne (David) King and the late Michael J. DiRe; loving "Papa" of Blair (David) Korpanty, Michael Elwood, Thomas (Samantha) Zimmermann, Patrick (Lindy) Elwood, Mackenzie, Madison Elwood, Nicholas Zimmermann, David, Matthew, Daniel, Jennifer and Julianne King; cherished great-grandfather of Eli and Ross Michael Elwood; dear brother of Vincent (Louise) DiRe; cherished uncle of Vincent, Christopher (Nicole) DiRe; son of the late Michael and Mary (nee Spano) DiRe. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3-8 PM at the (Amherst Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5200 Sheridan Drive (at Hopkins Rd.). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday at St. Rose of Lima Church, 500 Parker Blvd. (at Parkside Ave), Buffalo. Please assemble at church. Entombment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Phil's name to Mercy Flight, 100 Amherst Villa Road, Buffalo, NY 14225 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. I am so very sorry to hear of Phil's passing. May I offer my sincere condolences to Gerri and all of Phil's family. Phil was such an incredibly positive influence on my life. His music, his teaching and his friendship were wonderful gifts that he generously shared with so many of us. I will always feel blessed to have known him.
