Gary RYDER Obituary

RYDER - Gary H. Age 69, of the City of Tonawanda, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on December 18, 2016, at his home, with his family at his bedside after a courageous battle with cancer. He is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Henry and Helen (Solomon) Ryder and many loved ones. Gary is survived by his wife, Setsuko, his son Steven (Charlene) and grandchildren Gabriel and Julian, his sister Beverly (Peter) Rasch, his Uncle Sam Solomon and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends. Gary graduated from Tonawanda High School in 1965 and attended Bryant and Stratton and Alfred University. Gary served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1966 through 1975. While stationed in Japan he met his wife of 48 years Setsuko Yamashiro. Gary had a long career as the Office Manager of Riverside Chemical Company. Prior to that, he was with Division Tire. A dedicated golfer, Gary is in the Ryder Cup family line and was a member of both Deerwood Men's Club and Tan Tara Golf Club. Gary made an appearance on the back nine monthly despite the perils of Buffalo weather. He was also a member of the Eldredge Bicycle Club and the Third Warders Club. He was an avid music fan and guitar player and was the biggest supporter of his son's band "53 Days". Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME, INC. 25 William St. (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda where funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday by Rev. Calvin VanderMey. Friends invited. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Gary may be made to: Bible Fellowship Center, 1136 Baseline Rd., Grand Island, NY 14072.
