Good person and good flight instructor. With his hokey demonstrations, I wished he and my father, who taught college physics, could have compared notes. I can kind of imagine them at a great table for teachers in Valhalla trading stories about goofy students, including me.

I took just a few flight lessons from Mr Stevens, he was a great teacher, easy to learn from. My sympathy to the family, you will be in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. The aviation family here in WNY lost a great Pilot and Teacher.

Gary was one of my first aviation "bosses" but more importantly he was a good friend and golf buddy. So sorry to hear this news.

It was a very long ago, and an all too brief (AMAZING) year, but I have fond memories of Mr Stevens, and some of advice and help he gave me, whilst at Pembroke HS Corfu. Some of his advice, he gave me that year I still pass on to my children and my colleagues.
But above all he introduced to Swimming, something a still love. God Bless.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Gary was truly the best coach--and friend. I have such fond memories from my years on the swim team. His swimmers were not just athletes to him--he truly cared about each and every one of us. He rejoiced in our successes and encouraged us when things got tough. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Gary was my Flight Instructor. He was one of the best teachers I ever had. He made a commercial pilot from me. I was looking forward to every lesson with him. It always was fun! He had this great ability to find a way to explain the most difficult subject, so it would become easy and he always had an interesting story to tell. I will miss him a lot with all my heart.

Mr Stevens was one the best coaches I knew and even better man, he tried to improve us as athletes and as productive people. Mr. Stevens will be greatly missed. RIP sir!

I remember when I was in 7th grade, I was out of school after a hip operation for most of the year and Gary tutored me along with Mr Kinal, Frau Kulyk and others. RIP

Gary was my Flight Instructor and mentor starting when I was 19 years old. We shared many stories about teaching high school and flying airplanes!! I will miss his stories, his teaching and his advice about life and "lift"!! My thoughts and prayers are with his family....all of us flyers have a co-pilot with us now whenever we slip the surly bonds.
