I worked as a nurse at PGH recovery room 16 and I know Dr. Barrios in our younger days. He was very friendly and kind and it was an honor to have known him. So sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to the family.

My deepest condolences to the Barrios family. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Barrios for years. He was very kind to his patients and staff, so giving. I knew if I was assigned to his lab, that I was going to have a good day. He had a great sense of humor, everything was a "true Story". Most of all he was a wonderful human being. You will truly be missed Dr Barrios.

I had the extreme pleasure of being a patient of Dr. Barrios for many, many years. I will forever be indebted to Dr. Barrios. My life would never be the same had it not been for him! I had the privilege of working with Dr Barrios at BGH back in the 70's. He was a kind and caring physician and friend. Always smiling. A great friend whom I'll never forget. I learned so much from him. Always knew he'd be an excellent surgeon.

What a great guy George was! As a CRNA {Certified registered nurse anesthetist] I so enjoyed doing his cases. He was a superb surgeon and a delightful personality. I always wished to spend my day doing his cases.

Everyone knew how brilliant George was in medical school. Perhaps, only a few knew he shone brighter in more mundane things in life. He taught me how important it was to know the unimportant things in life and not to dwell on them. George is gone but not gone is his courage, faith and an uncanny sense of acceptance. Mrs. Barrios and family, we never met, but your husband was much loved at the Buffalo Medical Group. As a partner in medical oncology, I would often stop by to see him when he was in for treatments, and his indomitable spirit was always apparent.
He exuded a humanness in his interactions that is too often lacking in our profession. The respect and thankfulness he showed our staff was a testimony to his basic goodness. The dignity he maintained throughout this ordeal was uplifting.
